How to Get Arrest Records in Pennsylvania?

Arrest records constitute a vital part of the criminal records. In Pennsylvania, arrest records provide the details regarding the suspect’s criminal act, date and time of the arrest and the officer responsible for the detention. Such records are maintained by law-abiding officers. An arrest record includes the below-mentioned details:
  • Basic details which may include name, gender, height, weight and birth date of the suspect
  • Date, place and time of detention
  • Details of the officer on duty and who was responsible for the arrest
  • Name and location of the detention or prison
  • Name of the person who issued an arrest warrant

What is an Arrest Warrant?

Arrest warrants are an order issued by the court to the police officials to make an arrest of a person who has committed the crime. Sufficient evidence and witness statements form a firm base for a police officer to make an arrest of the suspect. Acquiring an arrest warrant isn’t an easy task. The Police officer or a Sheriff needs to file an affidavit and present it to the Judge or court magistrate for authorization.

The arrest warrant is later signed by the judge or court magistrate on behalf of local jurisdictions. It must be noted that the arrest warrants are valid for a particular time period only. Searching hidden evidence at the suspect’s property or for confiscating illegal property are some instances when arrest warrants are issued too.
