Cedi Osman is a basketball professional hailing from Turkey. He was born on April 8th, 1995 and features for the Cleveland Cavaliers from the NBA(National Basketball Association). He is a player employed at the small forward position.
Osman’s birthplace is Ohrid in the Republic of Macedonia. His father had ethnic Turkish roots while his mother was a Bosniak hailing from Novi Pazar in Serbia. His elder brother Dzaner is another basketball professional. He began playing for the youth teams of the KK Bosna during 2001.
He earned a transfer to the junior teams of Anadolu Efes as a result of his excellent performances. Since he had a Turkish paternal root, he was able to acquire Turkish citizenship since Turkish laws allowed this in the right-of-return. Further, he was able to play for the Turkish national team for basketball after that.
Professional Career Highlights
In 2007, Osman agreed to a youth team contract to play for Anadolu Efes. He featured in star, junior, as well as the youth teams of Anadolu Efes. He was loaned out during the 2011–12 season to feature in the 2nd division, TB2L level outfit, Pertevniyal. It was also the farm team under Anadolu Efes. He landed a professional deal tying him to the Anadolu Efes during the 2012 summer.
NBA Career Highlights
Osman was picked as the 31st pick overall under the Minnesota Timberwolves during the NBA drafts of 2015. Later, the draft rights for Osman and another player was handed over to the Cleveland Cavaliers in return for the draft rights of Tyus Jones on the same day.
Osman agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers in July 2018. Osman made his debut in February 2018 during their victory against the Atlanta Hawks and scored 16 points with 6 out of 9 attempts. He also provided 5 assists along with 3 steals, and 6 rebounds. The team reached the NBA Finals of 2018 but lost the series versus the Golden State Warriors 4-0.
Osman registered his career-best points tally versus the Miami Heat in January 2019. He netted 29 points in this loss. Four days after this, he was included among the participants for the Rising Stars Challenge of 2019. He was a part of the World Team since he played some impressive matches in the NBA.

Turkish Senior National Team
After enjoying success with several junior national teams in Turkey, Osman received the call to the senior national team for basketball in Turkey. He featured in the Basketball World Cup by FIBA in 2014, the EuroBasket of 2015, as well as the World Olympic Qualification Tournament of Manila by FIBA in 2016.
