Culliver did not have the easiest life while growing up as his mother was single and only sixteen years old when she had Culliver.
Chris has three siblings, a brother who is four years younger than him and a pair of twins who are 11 years younger than him. When he was little his stepfather and one of his cousins were shot in an altercation in a bar. Hןד mother was also present there and she was wounded too.
Surprisingly, Chris hadn't been very keen on playing football and only started playing during his Sophomore year. That year he had recorded 127 tackles, two interceptions, and seven sacks.
The next year when he was a senior he had 147 tackles and as many as four interceptions to his name. He played a few games in an offensive role and had logged almost 1500 yards.
In his final two seasons, he had over 270 tackles to his name and was also voted the MVP at an All-Star game.
Aside from football, Chris also demonstrated amazing talent for track and field events. His personal best in a 100m dash in 10.69s and in 55m dash it is 6.08s Culliver was classified as a 5-star recruit by the Rivals.com in 2003.
He was considered as the top pick in North Carolina and the 3rd best receiver. Scout.com rated him as a 4-star prospect.
When scholarships poured in he chose the University of South Carolina over the University of Florida and also North Carolina State University.
Chris Culliver took up a degree in Sports and Entertainment Management and played for the South Carolina Gamecocks from the year 2007 -2010.
In his freshman year, he was a kickoff returner and clocked in 34 returns with 809 yards.
This was the second most recorded return yards in the history of the school. In 2009 he almost died when there were complications that followed a routine shoulder surgery and still he had 60 tackles with only 4.5 losses and three deflected passes.
He was projected to be picked in either the 4th or the 5th round but was picked in the third draft by the San Francisco 49ers in 2011.
He was the 80th overall pick and as a rookie played all the 16 games of a regular season. In the season he had 35 tackles and also managed to play both postseason games.
In 2015 he signed a 4-year contract with the mighty Washington Redskins but was suspended later that year due to misdemeanor. Culliver injured his ACL and MCL during practice in November 2016.
In 2016 he signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins, he started the season on the unable to perform list and was later added to the active roster. He was released a little later in November 2016.
Later he was signed by the Indianapolis Colts and later put on the injured reserve and a little later was released from the team. His injuries have plagued him for a few years but he still made it to the Top 1000 Overall Players.
