Following a good senior season, Wiliams was hoping to get the first-round selection from Sports Illustrated. In the NFL draft 2010, he was named the third-best defensive tackle player first being Ndamukong Suh and the second one was Gerald McCoy.
A five-year deal was signed on 2 August 2010 between Dan Williams and Arizona Cardinals. Williams was at the start of his career in 2011. Williams was a rookie and had only 2 passes in 37 matches in 15 matches.

He played 15 games, 11 in 2012, and a total 41 in the season. He played five seasons for Arizona Cardinals and two seasons for Oakland Raiders.
Finally, in 2017, the Oakland Raiders released Williams from the contract. In 32 games with the Raiders, Williams started out with 26 tilts and took 1.5 sacks along the way. After a successful and strong play in 2015, he performed poorly the next season.
