De'Anthony Melton is a basketball professional from America. He was born on May 28th, 1998 and plays for the Memphis Grizzlies from the NBA. He was picked by the Houston Rockets during the 2nd round drafts of NBA 2018 as the 46th pick. He was later traded to the Phoenix Suns prior to his rookie year. In his college days, he played with the USC Trojans from the Pac-12 Conference.

However, he could not feature in the season 2017–18 due to the ongoing corruption issues related to the NCAA Division I of 2017-18.

Professional Career

Phoenix Suns (2018–2019)

Melton was picked by the Houston Rockets during the NBA drafts of 2018. He featured for them during the Summer League of NBA 2018 at Las Vegas. From 5 matches, he made 16.4 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals, and 7.2 rebounds per match. He played his best match during July 9th as he netted 26 points, 5 assists, and 10 rebounds during a victory against the Los Angeles Clippers.

He was sold along with Ryan Anderson to the Phoenix Suns in return for Marquese Chriss and Brandon Knight. His professional debut for the Suns came in October versus the Golden State Warriors. However, he did not get sufficient playtime till October when they lost versus the San Antonio Spurs.

Melton received an assignment to play for the Northern Arizona Suns which was their development team playing in the G League of NBA. He played for the starting game of the season in November. However, they lost the game and he was called to the Phoenix Suns team the following day.

Melton made a professional-best of 21 points during a defeat versus the Sacramento Kings. He made his season-best of10 assists during their victory versus the Denver Nuggets in January 2019. He performed impressively in the defensive area and used his playmaking skills well to steer the Suns to a win versus the Sacramento Kings in January.

 He scored 10 points and provided 8 assists along with 4 steals, 2 blocks, and 4 rebounds in the process. He went through a sprained ankle in January-end that sidelined him for a month. He came back for the G League of NBA in February and then played in the NBA a few days after this versus the Atlanta Hawks.

Melton sustained a sprain right ankle in January which sidelined him for a month. However, he made a brief return to game action with the G League of NBA in February. He also featured in the NBA versus the Atlanta Hawks after this. He made a career-best rebound count of 8 during an overtime victory versus the New Orleans Pelicans.

Memphis Grizzlies (2019–present)

The Suns sold him along with Josh Jackson, Melton, and 2 more 2nd round selections to the Memphis Grizzlies in return for Kyle Korver and Jevon Carter.

College career Highlights

Melton started 25 games as a freshman and had an average of 8.3 points, 1.9 steals, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per match. He was the first freshman to make 300 points along with 60 steals, 35 blocks, 100 assists, and 150 rebounds in his first season after Dwayne Wade had done it.
