Elizabeth Taylor was the finest British-American actress who got fame at a very young age. She became a star, wise and thoughtful before her age, and in such a short period of time. She starred in many unforgettable romantic films.

Her full name was Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, and she was born to American parents on 27th February 1932 in London, UK.

 Her parents were art dealers and staying in London. However, after World War II, her parents went back to America and started a new life in the city of Los Angeles. She was a born star.

When she was just 3, the young star started dancing, and one day she performed for Princess Elizabeth and Margeret. Eventually, one day Taylor’s family friend recommended her to take a screen test.

She started her acting career at the age of 10

At the age of 10, she started working with Universal Studio and made a big-screen debut with the movie, There’s One Born Every Minute in 1942. Later, she got a bigger role in Lassie Come Home in 1943 followed by The White Cliffs of Dover in 1944 respectively. The best part was that she played adult roles in a perfect and seamless manner. 

Such talent was exceptional and not seen in other child stars of that period. She handled her celebrity status in a very impressive manner without losing her focus from her priorities. When she turned 17, she got a big role in the Conspirator movie, opposite to one of the biggest stars of that time, Robert Taylor.

 Her love life

Taylor was always in headlines for her love affairs. Just like her movies, her love life was always in the international headlines. At the age of 17, she started dating millionaire, Howard Hughes. Right after that, she got married to one of the popular hoteliers, Nicky Hilton.

Unfortunately, she divorced him in 1952. Again, she married a popular actor, Micheal Wilding. After that, she married Mike Todd, who was unfortunately killed in a plane crash.

Then she had an affair with her ex-husband’s closest friend, Eddie Fisher. According to the official reports, she has married eight times, that’s why her love life was always in international headlines.

Her role as a philanthropist

In 1985, her one of the closest friends, Rock Hudson, died due to HIV/AIDS. Then she started making efforts to find a cure to the disease. In fact, in 1991, she started the HIV/AIDS Foundation to support all those suffering from the disease, and also to fund the research for its advanced treatment.

Health Issues

Elizabeth had always struggled with multiple health problems during her entire life. She was born with scoliosis. In 1956, she underwent spinal surgery. In 1961, she suffered life-threatening pneumonia that needed a tracheotomy.

Due to her addiction to alcohol and pain killers, she received treatment for seven weeks at the Betty Ford Center in December 1983.

She also went to the rehabilitation center in 1988. In 1997, she underwent a benign brain tumor surgery followed by a treatment for skin cancer in 2002. After a couple of years, she suffered from congestive heart failure.

Later, she died of the disease at the age of 79 on March 29, 2011, at the medical center in Los Angeles. Her death ceremony took place at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.


Elizabeth Taylor received some of the most prestigious awards multiple times during her career. She received Golden Laurel Award, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award, Academy Award, Bambi Award, David Di Donatello Award, Silver Bear for best actress, and many more prestigious awards.
