Born on 15th February 1984, Gary Clark is a famous American musician who hails from Austin in the state of Texas. Clark is well-known for the fusion of soul, rock, and blues music that have hip hop elements. The musician signed a contract with theWarner Brothers Records, as well as, released an album in 2011. Other albums soon followed suit such as The Story of Sonny Boy Slim and Blak and Blu.
All through his illustrious musical career, he has performed in innumerable live concerts that have been compiled in two of his releases. Clark has performed on the same dias with big names like Clapton, Crow, King, the Rolling Stone, and others.
On 22nd February 2019, he released a new album called "The Land", which was seven days prior to its original date of release. The musician was awarded the prestigious Grammy award for his number " Please Come Home". A year earlier, the musician had got a nomination for the song Ain't Messin Round".
Clark started to play guitar when he was only 12-year-old. His early years were spent in Austin, in the state of Texas where he was also born. When he was a teenager, Clark played small gigs till the time he came into contact with Clifford Antone, a music promoter. Anyone also happened to be Austin Music Club's proprietor. After Clark met Antone, he started playing with many other musical stalwarts such as Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan, along with other musicians in the music community of Austin. These collaborations help Clark in his musical journey.
The musician lent his voice on the bonus track of "I Want You Back" in 2010 on the album of singer Sheryl Crow titled 100 Miles from Memphis. Clark recorded 2 different songs with Alicia Keys in 2012 in New at park City. Clark was the co-writer along with Alicia Keys for the song titled "Fire We Make". The other co-writers of this song are Oak Felder and Pip Wansel in an album titled Girl on Fire.
Alicia Keys shared on 28th August 2012 on Twitter that the release of a new album titled Blak and Blu would be on 22nd October 2012. The musician collaborated on the number titled "What Did I Do?/God as My Witness" with the Foo Fighters on their album titled Sonic Highways" released in 2014.
The singer released an album "The Story of Sonny Boy Slim" on 11th September 2015. He also guest appeared on an album titled "The Storm" by Tech N9ne. Released on 9th December 2016, the singer participated in a chorus in the album titled "No Gun Control".
He performed on Keep a Child Alive Black Ball benefit by Alicia Keys for raising funds for children in Africa who are suffering from AIDS. The duo performed along with the Beatles on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and paid their respect to George Harrison through their performance.
It was shared on 5th November 2014 that Clark has got engaged to Nicole Trunfio, his longtime girlfriend who was also a model. They got married in the year 2016 and are parents to two kids. Nicole and Clark bought a huge horse ranch in 2016. The ranch is located in Kyle, Texas.
Recognition and awards
Austin's Mayor, Kirk Watson declared 3rd May 2001 as Gary Clark Jr. Day. The musician was just 17-year-old then. The musician bagged the Austin Music Award for Best Blues and Electric Guitarist on 3 various occasions. In November 2011, he was also declared as the Spin's breakout artist for the month.
