Jeremy Mincey Celebrity Life
Jeremy Mincey is a retired American football professional who played as a defensive end for several teams in the NFL like the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Since retiring from professional football, he ventured into music and also launched his own clothing line.
Mincey was born on December 14, 1983, in the city of Statesboro in the state of Georgia. He completed his schooling from the Statesboro High School, where he played both football and basketball for the Statesboro Blue Devils.
He spent his college life in El Dorado’s Butler County Community College, where he garnered a reputation as a formidable American football player.
His spell as a football player lasted from 2002 – 2003 and based on his performances and statistics, he was rated as the country’s 18th best junior college player by Rivals.com.
Following his spell at the Butler County Community College, he transferred to the University of Florida. Across 2004 and 2005, Mincey played for the Florida Gators under the stewardship of coaches Ron Zook and Urban Meyer.
His solid performances in his time with the Gators earned him the honor of featuring in the All-Southeastern Conference’s second team.
Alongside his achievements as a budding sportsman, Mincey graduated with a Health and Human Performance bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in 2007.
Mincey’s journey as a professional football player started with the 2006 NFL Draft when he was selected by the New England Patriots. He was primarily deployed as a linebacker by the patriots. However, his time with the Patriots came to an end in August 2006, following which San Francisco 49ers signed him.
The injury curse continued into 2008 for Mincey and the 2008 – 2009 season saw him make only three appearances. The 2009 – 2010 season was even worse, as he could not make a single appearance due to persistent injury problems.
However, the 2010 – 2011 campaign proved to be the comeback season for Mincey, as he notched up impressive numbers in his performances as a left defensive end. He led the team in terms of sacks and also ranked second in the team for quarterback pressures.
The 2011 – 2012 season turned out to be even better, as he played in all sixteen games, starting each of them. By the time the season was over, he led the team for compiling eight sacks. He was rewarded with a four-year contract in 2012 but was released in late 2013.
Denver Broncos capitalized on Mincey’s free-agent status and signed him just four days after the Jaguars had released him. He played only a bit-part role in his time with the Broncos and within three months, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys.
He made an immediate impact on the Dallas Cowboys, who benefited greatly from Mincey’s experience as a defensive end.
For the 2014 – 2015 season, he was appointed the new team captain in regular captain Justin Durant’s absence. His sack and quarterback pressure numbers were second to none in the team.
2015 – 2016 however, saw Mincey embroiled in contract disputes, which disrupted his presence and leadership in the team.
Even though he did feature in a handful of games, the return of his injury problems saw his career as a professional football player come to an end. He officially announced his retirement in August 2016.
