John Wall Celebrity Life

John Wall is the most famous 29-year-old American Basketball player among youngsters. He plays at Number 2 in Washington Wizards as a point guard in NBA league games. He has also played for Kentucky wildcats in his college days. He was drafted in 2010 and was the first overall pick.

He has won many laurels like five times All-star, All-NBA third team, NBA All defensive second team in 2015 and SEC player of the year in 2010. He also holds the pride by being the NBA slam dunk contest champion in 2014 and was named to the NBA All-Rookie First team. He has a promising career ahead and he is a favorite of many NBA fanatics.

 

Childhood

John Wall was born in Raleigh North Carolina. He had a difficult childhood with a father who was a convict. He has an elder stepbrother who promised to look after the family but also succumbed to bad friendship and was penalized. Wall‘s mother took his responsibility and raised him by working non-stop. Wall had suffered too much as a child that he turned into a bully who does not listen to elders.

He often got involved in fights and brawls at school. He had once broken and entered a premise as a teenager and he was reprimanded by the local police for the same.

Early Basketball

Despite a tough childhood, Wall was interested in basketball and he played the game with passion. He played for some major AAU basketball teams namely Garner Road and D-one sports.

He played high school basketball for two seasons and he joined his sophomore at Needham High School in Raleigh where he continued his basketball sessions. He was suspended from his team for showing attitude during rehearsals and this made him join Word of God Christian Academy.

The change brought a lot of behavioral changes in Wall and he learned how to play respectfully. He let go of the habit of demeaning colleagues and improved his general demeanor.

This change impacted his game as well and he was welcomed to play at Reebok All-American Camp in Philadelphia. He played impressive innings there and in 2008 he played the Elite 24 Hoops classic thereby winning the Most-Valuable Player title.

In 2009 Wall played with an average of 19.7 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds that ranked him as the second-best school basketball player. He was selected to play for the 2009 Nike Hoop Summit in Portland.

 

College Basketball

Wall joined the Kentucky University in 2009. He received a call from Duke University, Georgia Tech, and Kansas University as well. The collaboration did not start well as he was suspended by the NCAA for some travel benefits but it sorted out soon.

He played against the University of Pennsylvania as a point guard and they won the match due to his gameplay. With every game, Wall proved his asset to Kentucky Wild Cats and in 2017 September Wall was inducted into the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame.

Wall’s Single game assist in 2009 broke Travis Ford’s record and this was the turning point of John Wall’s basketball career.

Professional Basketball

At 19 years, Wall was considered eligible to draft for the NBA due to his diligence and sincerity. But he decided to not attend the 2009 draft and play for Kentucky. Later in 2010, he decided to enter the NBA draft and he was the overall pick in the first round for Washington Wizards. His first contract was signed on 3 May 2010.

Wall signed with Reebok to be the face of their new line of Shoe for athletes. 25th June 2010 was declared as Wall Day by the Washington Mayor as John Wall was their new brand. 2010-2011 seasons were most fruitful for Wall as he won the “Most valuable player” In summer league. His NBA debut was against Orlando Magic. In 2011-2012 he was chosen to play All-Star Weekend Rising Stars Challenge.

In 2012-2013 Wall missed a few games due to knee injury. In 2013 he was labeled by Washington Wizards as a designated player and in 2015 he recorded career-high scores that made him the Eastern Conference Starter for 2015 All-star Game. 2016-2017 Wall had to rest due to knee injuries and in 2017-2018 he signed a 4-year contract with Wizards for $170 Million USD.

In 2019 he has been advised not to play for 12 months following a ruptured Achilles tendon. He had been selected to play basketball for National Games in 2014 FIFA World Cup Team but he had to withdraw due to injuries

Personal Life

Wall is married and has a son. He is presently pursuing a degree in business administration. He has bought himself a posh bungalow in Potomac for 4.9 million USD. He has a 25 million USD worth contract with Reebok and Adidas. He is also a brand ambassador for New Era Caps. He works with NGO ‘s and helps homeless people. He was awarded McKinney Award for his social work
