Amateur baseball career
The player studied at the Umatilla High School situated in Umatilla, Florida. Lucroy was a 40year starter at this high school and set up many school records. Steve Lucroy was an assistant coach while his coach was Don Semento. Lucroy enrolled for 3 years at the University of Louisiana and played baseball at college-level for the baseball team Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.
His name appeared as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American for 2005, Sun Belt Conference All-TOurnament Team for 2006, All-Sun Belt Conference foe 2005 and 2007, and Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll for 2006. Umatilla High School finally retired the No. 8 jersey of the player on 19th April 2011.
Minor leagues and draft
Lucroy was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 3rd round, his being the 101st selection overall in the MLB draft of 2007. In 2007, he played his professional debut game with Helena Brewers of the Rookie league. Lucroy was declared as a Pose-Season All-Star and also earned the honors of Baseball America Rookie All-Star.
Lucroy divided the season between Brevard County Manatees and Class A West Virginia Power in 2008. He was declared a Mid-Season All-Star while playing for West Virginia. He spent his entire season of 2009 with the Double-A Huntsville Stars. His season in 2010 began with Huntsville but was promoted to the Nashville Sounds of Triple-A later on.
Lucroy was called by the Milwaukee Brewers on 21st May 2010 and he made his debut in the major league that day. His opponent in the game was Minnesota Twins. However, the player was put on the list of disabled players on 20th April 2015 after he suffered a broken tow, Once is rehab was complete, Lucroy was removed from this disabled list on 1st June.
