Kevin Maurice Garnett was in Greenville, South Carolina on the 19th of May 1976. He is a professional basketball player for America who has had a total of 22 seasons with the National Basketball Association (NBA). Garnett is known to be one of the most valuable forwards in a game of basketball of all time.

He is considered to be versatile, to have a defense ability, and is known to be intense with his playing. Owing to the way that he plays at court, Garrett has been awarded by the NBA for being the Defensive Player of the Year and the Most Valuable Player for his performance in different games.

Kevin Garnett is the second of three siblings and his love for the game of basketball can be traced back to when he was attending middle school at the Hillcrest Middle School. His first try and playing organized basketball as a sport started when he attended high school.

Due to racial discrimination of that time and getting into feuds with other students, Kevin transferred to a different high school for his senior year. During his school like Kevin was named as the National High School Player of the Year by USA Today.

Start of Garnett's Career

Garnett started his professional career in the year 1995 when he was picked 5th for the NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was the first player since 1975 to be drafted into a professional basketball team right out of high school. Thought Garnett was benched initially in his professional basketball career, he soon stood in the starting line-up for future games.

Being a part of Timberwolves, who had not had a winning streak in a long time, things were changing for the team as several other players were recruited along with Kevin. In the history of football, when the season ended he was the youngest player on the team at the age of nearly 20 years old.
During the 2002-2003 NBA season, Kevin Garnett’s performance was one of the best of his entire career as a basketball player. Due to his contributions and the statistics related to his performance, he earned his second All-NBA First Team Nomination and took second place in the MVP voting.

In the season of 2003-2004, Garnett received the title of Most Valuable Player for the first time in his career due to his support in the game, his rebounds, blocks, and for leading the entire league in terms of the number of rebounds. His contribution to the Timberwolves and helping the team to get to the playoffs every season was a remarkable feature about him.

In July of 2007, after Garnett was not sure of where his career was taking him and with his frustration related to the performance of the Timberwolves, he was traded to the Boston Celtics team. With his joining of the Boston Celtics, their performance in Kevin’s debut season was phenomenal. He received the sixth-highest voting for 2008’s NBA All-Star Game was voted third in for the MVP voting of the year in 2009.

In 2013, the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets agreed to trade Garnett. He continued to be an outstanding basketball player through all of the games that he played as a member of the Brooklyn Nets. In the year 2015 Garnett was traded back to the Minnesota team. He re-signed a deal with the Timberwolves for a two-year deal.
Garnett's Retirement

It was on the 23rd of September 2016 when Kevin Garnett announces that he was going to retire after being a part of the National Basketball Association for 21 seasons. This decision of his was after the numerous injuries that he had sustained over the period that he was an active player.

Garnett was not sure whether his knees would help him to play basketball in a competitive environment. Garnett, however always wanted to help in contributing to the Timberwolves, and to help them in winning the playoffs for each NBA season.
