Lady Gaga was born as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in the year 1986 on March 28 in the city of New York. She was born to Joseph Germanotta who was an entrepreneur and her mother is Cynthia Louise who was a business executive.
Her talent for music was spotted very early in her life when at the age of just four years, she started to learn to play the piano.
As time passed, she was also drawn towards acting and had spent around ten years of her life at Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
By the age of 17, she had entered a famous music school of New York University – The Collaborative arts Project 21.
The year 2005 saw the beginning of her musical journey as she had created her own band known as SGBand by including some of her friends from the New York University.
In the same year, she along with Lelle Mei had recorded two different songs for an audiobook. Both of them were actively performing in around New York when all of a sudden she got introduced to Rob Fusari who helped her to create new songs.
It is widely believed that it was Fusari who gave her the stage name of Lady Gaga after he got inspired by the Queen’s song – Radio Ga Ga
During the later half of 2007, she met RedOne and collaborated with him. However, she received mixed reactions from some of the radio stations that her taste of music was too under quality as far as the mainstream audience.
But Gaga passionately believed that she was on the right path towards becoming the next big thing in the business of music.
In the year 2008, she recorded her first album – The fame. Also, she worked on creating her own creative team. Her team was known as the Haus of Gaga.
Her debut album got released on 19th August 2008 and it was a runaway success in a lot of countries of Europe including the UK, Germany, and Switzerland.
In fact, one of her singles titled – ‘Poker face’ also went on to become the most selling single in the year 2009. Ultimately, the poker face won the best dance recording award at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards.
2009 - saw Lady Gaga became the most downloaded female musician in the US ($11.1 million). She had arrived at the world stage.
Such was her popularity back then that she was supposed to be a part of ‘This is it’ series, which ultimately got canceled due to Michael Jackson’s death.
This was also the time when she got her entrepreneurial juices flowing as she went for collaboration for creating jewel-encrusted headphones with Monster Cable products.
Also, she had a partnership with Polaroid for a series of products under the name of ‘Grey Label’.
In the year 2011, she gained more fame, as her single 'Born this way' had sold over one million copies in less than a week. The album itself received three Grammy nominations
In the year 2012, she released her first perfume under her own brand – Lady Gaga fame which was followed by another one – Eau De Gaga in the year 2014.
In the same year, her album with Tony Bennett – Cheek to Cheek was released which won a Grammy award as well.
In the year 2018, she starred in a musical drama – ‘A star is born’. Her performance received critical acclaim from various celebrities across the globe. Her latest album – ‘Chromatica’ was scheduled to be launched on 10th April 2020.
But it got delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. On the acting front, her next assignment is to play Patrizia Reggiani in an upcoming movie by Ridley Scott.
She has been famously drafted in the list of 100 fashion icons of all time by Time Magazine.
Also, she has founded the ‘Born this way foundation’ which focusses on youth empowerment. She is also an active supporter of LGBT rights across the world.
