Michael Peter Muscala or Mike Muscala is a basketball professional from America. He was born on July 1st, 1991 and plays with the Oklahoma City Thunder from NBA.
Muscala’s birthplace was St. Louis Park in Minnesota. His mother remarried later and he has a stepsister. He was brought up in Minnesota and went to school at Roseville. He completed graduation at Roseville High School.
Muscala featured in the Bucknell Bison basketball team across 4 seasons. He was the top Player of the year for the Patriot League in 2011 as he guided the Bison to participate in the NCAA tournament.
He was a part of the All-Patriot League’s First Team. He also received the Honorable Mention of AP All-American for the season of 2010-2011. He was picked for the All-America Academic of 2012-13.
He reached the finals of the Senior CLASS Awards of 2012-13. He was recognized with the Player of the Year of the Patriot League, Player of the Year for the Defender, and a selection to the All-Conference First-Team. He turned the first person to be awarded the MVP award, and Player of the Year on two occasions. He turned the leading scorer for Bucknell during the 2012–13 season as he crossed the record set by Al Leslie 32 years prior to that.
NBA draft and Spain (2013–2014)
Muscala was picked by the Dallas Mavericks as the 44th pick during the NBA drafts of 2013. He was sold to the Atlanta Hawks on the same night and went to Hawks’ Summer League campaign for 2013.
In August 2013, Muscala agreed to a one-year agreement with Río Natura Monbús Obradoiro from Liga ACB. He closed all ties with Obradoiro in February 2014 and came to the USA. He had an average of 14.6 points, 1.1 assists, and 7.8 rebounds from 20 matches.
Atlanta Hawks (2014–2018)
Muscala agreed to a multiple-year agreement with the Atlanta Hawks. He played his first match for the Hawks in March and recorded 4 points along with 5 rebounds during a defeat versus the Phoenix Suns. He secured a season-best of 15 points during a victory against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Muscala went back to the Hawks’ Summer League NBA of 2014. In 2014–15 season, he got many assignments to play with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants from the Development League of NBA. In March 2015, he played his season-high of 18 points, 1 steal, 2 blocks, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists during a defeat versus the Charlotte Hornets.
Muscala featured for the summer league squad of Hawks in 2015 and had an average of 9.8 points along with 7.3 rebounds from 6 matches. He improved his season-best tally to 12 points during a victory versus the Philadelphia 76ers. He was brought to a presentation at the Memorial Trophy of Jason Collier as the player who displayed his characters off the field in the way of a community ambassador.
Muscala signed for the Hawks again and scored a new career-best of 19 points versus the Chicago Bulls in March. He made a new career-best again during the defeat versus the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Philadelphia 76ers (2018–2019)
Muscala was sold to the Philadelphia 76ers in a three-way deal in July 2018.
Los Angeles Lakers (2019)
In February 2019, Muscala was sent to the Los Angeles Clippers along with Landry Shamet, Wilson Chandler, and more future draft selections in return for Boban Marjanović, Mike Scott, and Tobias Harris. The next day, he was sold to the Los Angeles Lakers as an exchange deal with Ivica Zubac and Michael Beasley moving the other way.
Oklahoma City Thunder (2019–present)
Muscala joined the Oklahoma City Thunder in July 2019.
