Ndamukong Ngwa Suh is an active defensive-end player in American Football, regarded as one of the best. He currently plays for the team Tampa Bay Buccaneers of National Football Association.

Early Life

Born on 6th January 1987, to father Michael Suh and mother Bernadette, Ndamukong was bought up at Portland, Oregon where he went to Grant High School in Portland.

Suh has often been described as a product of inter-continental matrimony, his mother being a Jamaican, and father a Cameroonian. His mother was an elementary school teacher and father a mechanical engineer who owned a heating and cooling firm in Portland.

Ndamukong was deemed to work in his father’s company only until he discovered his talent and passion for football.

At Grant High, he made his inclinations very clear. He was a headliner at three sports. Along with obvious liking to football, he was interested in basketball and track & field.

During his time at his school football team, the Grant Generals he played as a two-way lineman. Living up to his talent he gained popularity pretty soon. As a junior in school, he earned ALL-PIL honors as a defense and as an offense. He was also an All-state pick honorable mention.

He only improved as a player in the senior year where he successfully initiated sixty-five tackles which included ten snacks and four fumbles recovery.

This achievement of his won him a list of accolades including All-America honors by the Parade magazine high school, Defensive Player of the Year for Interscholastic League, and an all-state selection of Class 4A. He even played at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in 2005.

Though he primarily focused on American football he delivered as a player in other sports too. Being a tremendously capable athlete he excelled in basketball and shot-put.

As a basketballer, he bagged All-League honorable-mention as a junior and senior. Even as a track and field athlete, he was a star performer for his state.
In 2004 he won the district shot put championship followed by the OSAA Class 4A title in 2005, thanks to a record throw of 61 feet and 4 inches.

As a result of his multi-faceted athletic performances, he was chosen for the Portland Tribune's Athlete of the Year, where he was one of the finalists for the award.

Rated as a four-star athlete by Rivals.com (a network of websites that focus mainly on college football and basketball recruiting in the United States) he emerged to be a sixth-ranked defensive tackle in the U.S.

As was expected he was desired by many teams, to an extent that he had the luxury to choose from various teams, ultimately deciding to join the Nebraska Cornhuskers on January 20, 2005.

During his time at the University of Nebraska from 2005 to 2009, he played for Nebraska Cornhuskers. During his year as a freshman, his physical health took a little beating when he suffered from a knee injury for which he went through a surgery, missing most of the season.

Unbothered by this incident he came back strong becoming one of the stars for his team, earning several awards. This included the Lombardi Award, AP player of the year, Outland Trophy, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award to name a few.

Having being made it to the All-American honors in 2009 unargued, he was bound to be one of the best at NFL. He was first recruited by the Detriot Lions at the 2010 NFL draft.

The year 2015 saw more fame for this all-time great player when he was ranked a carrier high, 24th amongst all NFL players. The same year he also became the highest-paid defensive player in the history of NFL.
