Nerlens Noel is a professional player in basketball. He currently plays for the team of Oklahoma City Thunder of NBA. His college basketball career ended with a tear of his ACL at Kentucky University. He got selected by the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA draft of 2013 as the 6th pick overall.

He was then traded to Philadelphia 76ers. He plays in the position of power forward and center. In the 2012 class, he was the top player of basketball in his high school.

 

Early life

Noel was born on 10th April 1994 in Malden city of Massachusetts. He has two brothers and one sister. Both of his brothers used to play the 1st Division college football. Nerlens’ oldest brother, Jim played for the college of Boston and Rodman used to play for North Carolina State.

High School Career

He spent the 1st two years of his high school life at Everett High School. Right after his sophomore, he was transferred to the Tilton School in New Hampshire. He had an average of 12.6 points, 3.9 blocks and 7.2 rebounds in every game when he was a senior. He was selected as the best player in the 2012 class by ESPN and also by Scout.com.

He was considered as the number 2 player by SLAM. He got selected for playing in the Nike Hoop Summit of 2012 and Jordan Brand Classic of 2012.

College Career

Noel decided of opting for Kentucky University in the year 2012 for playing NCAA Division 1 basketball. In his 3rd game on 16th November 2012, he had an average of 15 points, 4 assists, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 1 block against the team of Lafayette. On 12th January 2013, he recorded 11 rebounds, 15 points and 7 blocks in a loss to the team of Texas A&M.

 On 29th January 2013, he set the UK single-game record of twelve blocks in a win of 87-74 against the team of Ole Miss. On 12th February 2013, Noel tore his ACL in a match against the team of Gators and thus he had to sit out for the rest of the season.

Professional Career

On 24th September 2013, Noel signed his contract with 76ers. In July 2014, he joined with the 76ers for the NBA Summer League. He played first minutes of the game with game-high of 19 points in a loss of 83-77 against Orlando Magic.

On 29th October 2014, he played his debut match in NBA in the team of 76ers with a loss of 103-91 against Indiana Pacers. Within 35 minutes, Noel recorded 10 rebounds, 3 blocks and six points on shooting 2 of 11.

After 2 days, his contract with 76ers was extended for the season of 2015-2016. In that very day, he scored 10 rebounds, 14 points, 3 blocks 1 steal and 2 assists in a loss against the Milwaukee Bucks.

On 30th January, Noel recorded 6 rebounds, 14 points, 4 steals along with career-high of 6 blocks in a win of 103-94 against the team of Timberwolves.

On 30th October 2015, his contract with 76ers was extended for the season of 2016-2017. On 23rd February 2017, he was traded to the team of Mavericks. He played his debut match for Mavericks after two days with a record of 9 points and 10 rebounds in a win of 96-83 against Pelicans.

On 3rd March 2017, he tied a career-high along with 15 points and 17 rebounds in a win of 104-100 against Grizzlies. On 6th July 2018, he signed a 2-year contract with City Thunder.
