At the end of 2006, some journalists referred to Paul as being the Rookie of the Year 2006, but the award is not given to someone who came into draft so late. It was finally given to Brandon Roy. He finished the season of 2006-2007 with an average of 7 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block in every game.
He also had a season-high of 17 rebounds, 20 points, 4 steals, 4 blocks and 3 assists in a game of 38 minutes. He played for all the 82 games of Utah. At the beginning of the 2007-2008 season, he achieved a new career-high with twenty-four points in a win against the team of Cavaliers. At a later stage, his career-high was extended to 28 points against Orlando Magic at the end of 2007.

On 13th July 2017, Paul signed a contract of 3 years amounting to $90 million for Denver Nuggets. He played his first match for Nuggets on 18th October 2017.
