He was born on July 13, 1941, in New York to Grace Dorothy and Robert Forster Sr., While Grace was an Italian American, Robert Sr. was of Irish and English descent. Robert studied at the University of Rochester and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Arts in the year 1964. Though he was at first interested to study law, he later developed a liking for acting. He began performing in his college dramas where he quickly gained recognition.
