Vincent Poirier was born on the 17th of October 1993, in Clamart, France and he is a French national. He developed an affinity towards basketball when he was quite young and he continued playing basketball through his young years as well as his years in school and college. His love for basketball soon developed into a profession and by the year 2010, Vincent was playing basketball professionally.
Vincent began playing professional basketball in May of the year 2010. At this time he used to play at a club called the Bussy Basket Club. During the 2013 to 2014 season, Vincent made quite a name for himself when he finished as the best rebounder to play at the Espoirs championship.
During this season, Vincent scored an average of 10.8 rebounds, 12 points and 2.9 turnovers along with 1.6 assists in 30 games. His skills on the field were so good that he gained quite a reputation for himself as a professional player.
Vincent then went on to sign a three-year contract with Paris Levallois on the 24th of April 2014. However, after he signed a contract with them, he was loaned to Hyeres-Toulon which a part of Pro B. Despite this, Vincent made quite a good start to the season and he was a rotation player at the time with Davante Gardner.
On the 14th of February 2015, Vincent added yet another feather to his cap when he led his team to a victory against the Anger. In fact, Vincent finished the game with 4 rebounds and ten points in just ten minutes of the game.
The following season, the 2015-2016 season, Vincent returned back to Paris Levallois. From December that season, Vincent was allowed to play for both Paris Levallois as well as CFBB in National 1. As of this time, Vincent was coached by Antoine Rigaudeau.
In December 2015 however, the coach Antoine Rigaudeau was replaced by Frederic Fauthoux. This change came as a positive for Vincent as it was not his chance to show his potential within the team and shine.
Vincent immediately started playing an excellent game and in April 2016, he was even named the MVP of the round after he finished the match against the BCM Gravelines Dunkerque with 12 rebounds, 23 points, and 2 assists in just 25 minutes after he began the game as a substitute.
Vincent and the NBA
Vincent participated in the NBA Summer League in July 2016 with Orlando Magic. Right in his first match for Orlando Magic as a part of the League, he scored 5 rebounds, 6 points and 1 assist in just 15 minutes of the game. In five matches in the league, he averaged at 4.4 rebounds, 4.2 points, 0.4 blocks, and 0.6 assists in 11.5 minutes in each game. In September 2016, Vincent and his team won the Pays de la Loire trophy by beating Antwerp and Le Mans.
In June 2017, Vincent signed a three-year contract with Baskonia which is part of the Spanish Liga ACB and EuroLeague. Vincent led the EuroLeague in rebounds, with an average of 8.3 rebounds per game in the 2018-2019 season. In May 2019, Vincent was selected as a part of the All-EuroLeague Second team. The same year, in July, he ended his contract with Baskonia and signed on with the Boston Celtics of the NBA.
