Under his leadership, the team secured 21.5 points on an average during the tournament’s first two matches.

Some of his memorable achievements were the game-tying 3-pointer versus UNC Greensboro and the first double-double versus Ohio State. In that season, Norvell Jr., Zach had impressive stats of 12.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists on an average.

After he scored a career-best of 28 points while playing against Creighton on December 1, 2018, he was selected for the 2018–19 All-West Coast Conference's first team with his teammates namely, Rui Hachimura, Brandon Clarke, and Josh Perkins. Upon the season’s completion, he proceeded to declare his intention of being drafted by the NBA in 2019, which led to him being invited to the NBA Draft Combine.
