Crime is one of the things that has plagued the world almost since the inception of social order. From some of the earliest records of history like the bible, we see examples of laws that were put in place to stop criminals as well as punishments for criminals like the great flood in Genesis. Crime is a topic that fascinates most of the world especially Americans and is the subject of countless movies, TV shows, books, podcasts, and documentaries. 

Aside from members of law enforcement, many people are interested in the workings of crime, from what makes criminals do what they do to statistics of certain crimes in the US. Whether you are a student, a follower of crime, or simply a concerned citizen, there are many resources on the internet that can provide you with reports, stories and updates about crime in the US and Abroad. Criminal Reports

FBI

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s website has many different resources for people to look for reports, stories, and updates that relate to federal crimes. Aside from the most wanted lists, there is a news section with stories and videos, and a press release section where you can find out the newest announcements from the FBI. The FBI also releases a podcast which you can listen to on their website. Aside from news, the FBI also hosts a resources tab in which you can find reports and publications. 

The FBI also has a program called The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR), The program's purpose is to provide information for use in law enforcement administration and is available to law enforcement, students, researchers, the media, and the public who are looking for information on crime in the US. There are four publications that are produced every year from data received from federal law enforcement agencies participating in the program. The UCR Program consists of four data collections: The National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), the Summary Reporting System (SRS), the Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) Program, and the Hate Crime Statistics Program. NCJRS

The National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) is a federally funded resource that provides information on criminal justice and drug-related information. The NCJRS publishes hundreds of reports and other information each year. The site can be navigated by the type of crime and includes violent crime, public order offenses, property crime, terrorism, organized crime, and more. The NCJRS receives its information from a number of sources including the Department of Justice, The Office of the Attorney General, The Bureau of Justice, the National Institute of Justice, and more. 

Murderpedia

Murderpedia is exactly what it sounds like a Wikipedia site, but solely about cases of murder. The site has profiles on about 7,000 murderers which includes extensive information about the killer’s backstory and history.
