How to Find Driving Records in Alaska?

A driving record carries useful information that benefits not just users of their own records, but users of other records as well. As a component of the registry of public records for a search, it offers details about an individual’s driving history. Managed by each state’s Motor Vehicle Agency, it is crucial for staying updated about a driver’s history information as a failure to do so may result in negative consequences because of fines pending, points accumulated, and poor driving histories.

Information records provide

Information contained in driving records differ by state, but basic details included are the state of origination of the record; details of personal identification; driver’s license information (number, type, class, restrictions, endorsements, status, issue, and expiry dates); license points; convictions information; and sometimes, voter registration and citizenship status.

Alaska Driving Records

In Alaska, driving records are maintained by the Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles and reflect details about accidents, DUIs, traffic convictions, license restrictions, and a point system to keep track of violations and convictions. Too many points results in license suspension.

Types of Alaska driving records

There are 3 types of driving records offered in Alaska:

  • The 5-year record is required by insurance providers most commonly.
  • The 10-year record provides more information about a person’s driving record.
  • The complete record lists details of everything and is useful not just for insurance providers, but also for employers to make decisions.
Alaska driving records can be ordered from the Division of Motor Vehicles online using DMV’s Driving Record Request service; via mail or fax using the state’s request form; or in person at the Alaska DMV office near you. The fee charged by the state is a standard flat $10.

Checking records online

To get access to records online, you have to fill the Alaska DMV’s online Driving Record Request, put in your identification details as per what is matching with the information on your driver’s license at present.

Checking records offline

For a mail-order of records, you have to fill the Request for Driving Record (Form 419F) and submit it with a cheque in favor of “DMV” or the “State of Alaska” to:

Division of Motor Vehicles
Attn: Research
1300 W. Benson Blvd. Suite 200
Anchorage AK 99503
Driving Records Alaska
For access via fax, you have to submit a Request for Driving Record (Form 419F), credit card information as mentioned on the form, and fax it to the number given. If you want to make an order in person, visit your nearest DMV and present your identification, along with a filled-in Request for Driving Record (Form 419F), and payment in cash, by cheque, or money order.

Even though insurers, research firms, and employers can get access to driving records from Alaska, written consent of the driver in question is needed before access may be granted.

Notify the Alaska DMV of any errors you spot upon receiving your records.
