What Information can you Find in Driving Records?
The driving record has complete information about the driver. As per privacy laws, personal information like the social security number, address, and other contact details are not revealed unless there is authorization from the individual. It would have details of the license status, indicating if there is any suspension or revocation. It would have details of offenses committed by the driver, fines, convictions, and accidents along with the dates of the same.
Getting Driving Records Online

The details of the driver like license number, name, date of birth, and SSN needs to be provided. If the record is requested by someone else then the details of the requestor need to be provided. The fee is $8 for an unattested driving record provided for informational purposes. For the attested driving record, the fee is $20 and it will be mailed once the order form is done online and fee paid online.
Getting Driving Records Offline

The form needs to be filled with the details of the requestor. When a company request information for a driver, then the details of the company need to be filled in. The fee to be paid is $8 for an unattested driving record and $20 for a certified driving record. The filled-in request form must be handed over at the service center with the applicable fee. The driving record is usually issued immediately at the service center.
The record can be obtained through the mail. The procedure for the same is as follows:
- The request form can be downloaded from https://www.mass.gov/files/documents/2018/03/21/DCU140%20-%20Request%20for%20Personal%20Information%20in%20RMV%20Records.pdf with details of the driver and requestor.
- If you are requesting the driving record of someone else, then the appropriate option needs to be selected from the form with details (eg: insurance agency or detective agency requesting a form for checks). The certification of the requested needs to be completed with the signature.
- A photocopy of a photo ID card has to be enclosed with the form. The fee to be paid is $20, which should be paid by check or money order payable to MASS DOT.
- The form and fee should be mailed to the following address:

- It usually takes 2 weeks to receive the driving record by mail.
The driving record can even be ordered over the phone from the RMV. The department has a contact center that can collect information online and process it to issue the driving record. All information needs to be provided on the phone and the fee can be paid by credit card. Once processed, the driving record will be mailed within 7 to 10 days. The number to be called is (800) 368 800 for area codes 339, 617, 781, and 857. For all other areas, (857) 858 3926 is to be dialed.
