The person must qualify the basic necessities and must also qualify a physical and written test. Then he or she is subjected to an oral interview which is conducted by a board of members. Later, the person must also pass in the background check or screening process. After he or she has qualified the above, they are sent to the Maine Criminal Justice Academy for training.
The basic qualifications are that the person must be above the age of 21, a U.S citizen and a GED or high school diploma. The person must possess Maine’s driving license and should not have any criminal convictions.
The written and physical test have different entrance methods. The person has to take up the ALERT and PAT tests together. The ALERT test is for judging the literacy of the person and the PAT, also known as Physical Agility Test, is to judge the physical fitness of the person. A person has to qualify in both these tests to apply for the post.
The oral board interview will be a face to face interview with the police department of Auburn. Based on the assessment of physical tests and the ability to answer the interview, a person is given an employment offer which is valid after the person passes the background check.
