How to Download Videos from YouTube: Youtube Video Download Guide
Let’s say you want to entertain yourself by watching some videos on YouTube at a later time when you know you will not have an internet connection. In that case, you would want to download the video beforehand so that you can watch it later even when you are offline. How can we do this?
Using third-party apps to download YouTube videos is against YouTube’s terms of service – "You shall not download any Content unless you see a 'download' or similar link displayed by YouTube on the Service for that Content." If you are using the downloaded video for personal use offline, you will probably not run into any copyright infringement issues.
Download YouTube videos to a PC
Step 1: Download and install 4K Video Downloader. Then launch the software open.
Step 2: Go to the video you want to download and copy the URL from the address bar.
Step 3: In 4K video downloader, click the green ‘Paste Link’ button at the top left.
The downloader retrieves the video information and presents options to choose video quality.
Step 4: Choose whether you want to download the video or audio in the left drop down.
In the right dropdown, choose the format. MP4 is recommended for compatibility and a good balance of file size and quality. Move on to choose the quality of the video, higher the quality, larger the file size. Estimated file size is displayed, and you can choose accordingly. If space is not a constraint, choose the highest quality.
Step 5: Choose the directory whether the downloaded file will be saved using the ‘Browse’ button and then click ‘Download.’
It can download up to 24 videos at once. After the download is complete, you can find the file in the destination folder, or you can play it from the downloader itself.
Download video with YouTube Premium
With the YouTube premium subscription, you can download videos without using third-party apps. You can only watch these videos on the YouTube app; there is no transferable file. You need to be logged in to the account with the subscription on the app to watch the videos offline. Tap the download button (gray downward arrow) below the video and choose the video quality to download. You can then find it in the Library to view offline.

Using TubeMate App:
This app is not available on the Google store. So you need to go to the TubeMate YouTube Downloader website to download the APK file. You will have to permit to install from ‘Unknown sources' in the security settings. Run the APK file to install it and then open the app. The interface looks similar to the YouTube app. Search for the video you want to download, play it and then tap on the red download button on the bottom right. You will be given options for audio and video formats and resolutions. Depending on the space available on your device, choose the options you prefer and hit the red ‘Download' button. It will continue to download in the background for you to enjoy at a later time.
Download YouTube Videos on iPhone
Step 1: Download and install a file manager app called Documents.
Step 2: Find the video on the YouTube app and click the ‘Share’ icon and then ‘Copy Link.’
Step 3: In Documents, find the web browser safari icon (a compass) on the bottom right. Tap on that and go to savefrom.net. Paste the link you copied into the input box.
Step 4: Choose your quality preferences, and your file will download.
It will appear in the ‘Downloads’ section the ‘Documents’ app. You can choose to move it to the ‘Camera Roll’ if you wish to do so.
