How to Reset Instagram Password
Sharing photos and videos have gone to the next level with the launching of Instagram- the social media app which is similar to Facebook and Twitter but with its perks. Setting an Instagram account is easy-all you need an email account and a password.
However, things get a bit dicey when it comes to resetting your Instagram password. There are many reasons why you would want to reset the password, but the task of doing it is often an ordeal. This article would enlighten you about the steps of resetting your password on your favorite social media app in just a few simple steps. So, here we go!
How to reset the password by using the username
Open the Instagram app and tap Forgot password? If you have an iOS device. If your phone is powered by Android, tap Get help signing in which is below the blue login button.
A Username tab will appear on the login screen, and you have to type in your username. If you have forgotten which email address you had used to create your Instagram account, you will get a hint while typing your username.
Press the Send Login Link tab, and a pop-up window will appear with a confirmation message. For example- "We sent an email to email@example.com with a link to get back into your account." All you have to do is confirm this message by pressing the OK tab at the bottom of the pop-up window.
As soon as you confirm, you will receive an email from Instagram about resetting your password. Open the mail with the subject “Help with your account” and below you will find a link which says “reset your Instagram password here.” Tap the link. Doing this will redirect you to a page where you can type your new Instagram password.
Type in your new password twice to confirm. After that, press Reset Password which lies at the bottom of the page. Instagram will try to match your passwords and if your passwords match you will be redirected to your Instagram home page. You will be able to open your account and log in with your new password.
How to reset the password by using email
You can reset your Instagram password from the website itself if you know your email address. Open the login page and click the “Log in”link which lies at the bottom of the page. Click Forgot? And enter your email to receive a link which will help to reset your password.
Tap the Get help signing in the tab below the Login button.
Type your email address which you had used to link your Instagram account. If you are using an Android phone, you have to tap Use username or email first.
Tap the Send login link tab after that tap OK.
Open your email and if you don’t have access to it, use your phone number.
Open the email from Instagram with the subject "Help with your account," and you will find a link which says "reset your Instagram password here.” Tap it. It will redirect you to a page where you can set a new password for your account.
You have to type in your new password twice and tap the Reset Password tab. If your passwords successfully match, you will be redirected to your Instagram homepage.
How to reset the password by using the phone number
Open Instagram and tap Get help signing in the tab.
Tap the phone tab. If you are using an Android phone, tap Send an SMS.
Tap Send Login Link, and you will receive a message on your registered mobile number. If you have an Android phone, you have to tap on the top-right corner of the screen.
Open the message, and you will see a five digit number. Tap the message from Instagram. After that, tap the link.
Tap Open. Tapping the link will take you to a password reset page if you're using an Android device. You can type in a new password twice and tap Reset password after which you will be redirected to your Instagram account.
