Voodoo Ritual, Child Left Burnt

Two women from Bridgewater, Massachusetts, are being held for multiple charges after they allegedly disfigured a girl in a voodoo ritual. Peggy LaBossiere, 51, and Rachel Hilaire, 40, allegedly tied down the 5-year-old girl to “rid her of a demon that was making her misbehave".

During the supposed ritual, the two women allegedly blew fire on the girl's face and also cut her collar and arm in order to draw blood from her body, as reported by her 8-year-old brother.

The ritual was reportedly requested by the girl's mother who has not been charged, but is receiving mental health treatment. LaBossiere and Hilaire pleaded not guilty to the charges against them which include indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14, battery on a child with injury, and threatening to commit a crime.

The girl in question has sustained third-degree burns on her face according to the police, and the two women threatened her brother with decapitation. The two women are set to appear in court on Feb. 7 to determine whether or not they should be released from custody.

After the hearing that will determine their fate, the women will be either released or jailed for their crimes. In any case, the serious charged will appear in their criminal records for years to come. In cases like this, the crimes can be reveled with a background check or a criminal record check that are two of the most important tools today for everyone that meets a new person and wishes to find out about their past.
