Ryan Connors, 27, has been convicted of fatally stabbing a church leader and for wounding several other members of the church group in an Indiana motel. The stabbing took place in 2017 after Connors joined the church group.
According to reports, Connors stabbed 43-year-old Avery Lee Scott Shoe from North Carolina after he joined his group that was traveling the Midwest. On the night of Jan. 6, 2017, Connors stabbed Shoe to death and stabbed several other members of the church group in an Evansville Motel 6.
Henry Turner, one of the stabbing victims, testified against Connors and said he survived by playing dead on the floor. According to investigators, Connors left the room with a bag of money that belonged to the church group and took off with its van.
Connors has been found guilty of murder, attempted murder and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury. His sentencing is scheduled to Sept. 14, and he could get up to 105 in prison for his crimes.
