Marine Suspect of Murdering his Grandmother

AWOL Marine Charged with the Murder of his Grandmother
Isaiah Kahleal Evans Caesar, 18, is accused of killing his grandmother, Sallie Copeland Evans, 74. The young marine went AWOL, and according to reports, his grandmother urged him to return the to military.

After the alleged argument between Caser and Evans, her body was discovered off a highway in Roanoke Rapids on Friday Night. The body was found near Evans' home after family members became concerned she did not contact them for several days and reoprted her missing.

Caesar, who has been absent from his base in Fort Benning, Georgia, was located at the Homewood Suites in Rocky Mount on Friday. According to reports, Caesar used his grandmother's credit card to rent the hotel room, which allowed authorities to track him down. Caesar was also in possession of his grandmother's car, and officials stated that he had explosives in his hotel room.

After locating his, Caesar was charged with murder and also served with a fugitive warrant for being AWOL. He is currently being held without bond as he awaits his appearance in court on May 16th.
