According to police records, Michael and his brother, Robert, who was 18 at the time, conspired to kill their family. Robert pleaded guilty to the murders in 2016 and got life in prison without parole. Michael, who was 16 at the time of the murders, is being charged for 5 counts of first degree murder and one count of assault and battery with the intent to kill for the killings in 2015.
According to reports, Michael's attorney will no longer be pursuing an insanity defense in his upcoming trial. Police investigators testified that the Bever brothers intended to load a car with guns and ammunition with an intent to kill 10 people in various locations at their preliminary hearing in 2016.
