Suspect Arrested for Kidnapping Attempt
On Saturday, Jan. 3, a man grabbed an 11-year-old girl on a stairwell in Staten Island in an alleged kidnapping attempt. The police arrested a suspect in the case, 46-year-old Michael Gordan, who allegedly grabbed the young girl on the 3rd floor hallway in the building on Broad St. near Tompkins Ave. in Stapleton.

The 11-year-old, whose name has not been disclosed, was grabbed at the waist and dragged into the hallway of the building in question. Despite her physical disadvantage, the girl was able to break free from Gordan's grasp and ran away from him.

Thanks to surveillance footage taken at the scene of the crime, police from the 120th Precinct identified Gordan and arrested him. In addition, the girl was able to pick Gordan out of a line up, which lead to his arrest. Gordan is known to the police after having 20 drug charges on his criminal records, with one more on the way after the attempted kidnapping.

Gordan has been charged with assault, kidnapping and acting in a manner to injure a child – charges that will be a part of his criminal record.
