Israeli actress and model Gal Gadot is taking not just Hollywood but the entire world by storm ever since she played the iconic Wonder Woman in “Batman v Superwoman: Dawn of Justice”. After the release of this DC blockbuster, she has also starred in the first solo film for the Amazonian princess superhero “Wonder Woman”, and “Justice League”, both released in 2017.
Gadot’s road to success
The 32-year-old’s road to international stardom is far from being an overnight success. Gadot has worked long and hard, and Wonder Woman is not the first character she has played on the big screen. In fact, she won the Miss Israel contest in 2004 and since then, have made several appearances in Israeli TV.
For the “Fast & Furious” franchise fans, Gadot is not a new face. She played Gisele Yashar in three movies of the street racing film franchise. She even did her own stunts in the movies and has credited her getting the part to her experience with the military. Gadot served for two years in the Israel Defense Forces as a combat trainer.
Her other Hollywood movies include “Date Night” and “Keeping Up with the Joneses” among others, but her big break was definitely playing the DC superhero Wonder Woman. Her portrayal of the beloved Amazonian warrior princess was praised widely by critics and fans and has placed Wonder Woman as one of the most loved superheroes of the year.
2017 has definitely been a good year for Gadot, who apart from her DC movies, also hosted Saturday Night Live.
A real-life Wonder Woman
Gadot, after her time in the army, joined IDC Herzliya to study law and international relations but dropped out before she graduated to pursue her acting and modeling career. Then in September 2008, she got married to her long-time boyfriend, Yaron Versano, an Israeli real estate developer. Together, the couple has two young daughters, Maya and Alma.
The couple used to own a luxury hotel in the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv until they sold it for $26 million in 2015. She said that she helped in running the hotel and often changed bedsheets in the hotel rooms herself.
Gadot frequently talks about her family in interviews, and photos she shares on social media show just how involved she is in their lives despite her busy schedule – a true Wonder Woman even in real life.
