How to Update Your iPhone Software
Are you tired with your iPhone hanging up every minute? Maybe it needs a new software update. Apple has ultimately released the much-anticipated software update- iOS 12 for your personal iPhones and iPads. The brand new software update is power packed with a lot of features which includes speed improvement and a host of other exciting tools. In fact, iOS 12 is being considered as one of the best iOS updates that have come up in the last couple of years.
There are a number of ways you can update your iPhone wirelessly. However, if you can't spot the software update on your phone, you can update manually by using iTunes. However, a word of caution that you might consider before updating your iPhone- always create a backup of your device. You can manually create your backup by using iCloud or iTunes.
Wirelessly updating your iPhone
If there's a pop-up message showing on your phone about an available update, you just have to tap Install Now.
However, you can also try to do it manually. In case you want to update your device manually, you just need to follow these simple steps.
- Switch on your iPhone and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
- Go to settings tab on your iPhone. Tap General settings and click Software Update.
- After clicking Software Update, tap on Download and then press Install.
If you have less space on your device, you may get a message asking you temporarily remove apps as the new update would require more space. If you get such a message simply tap Continue or Cancel. Do not worry about your deleted apps. iOS will automatically reinstall apps that were removed while installing the new update.
If you want to update now, just press Install. Another alternative is tapping Later and choosing Install Tonight or Remind Me Later. However, you need to remember that after you tap Install Tonight, you will have to keep your iOS device switched on in case you are planning to sleep. Following this step and your iPhone will automatically go through an update overnight.
You may also be asked to enter your passcode.
Do not worry if your iPhone does not have the required space to download and install an update. iOS will automatically try to make space for the same. In this case, your iPhone will erase app data because in this way it can again download data without relocation.
With iOS 12, updating your iOS device automatically is very simple. Simply go to Settings to turn on your Automatic Updates. Open General Settings. Then go to Software Update. Tap it and then press Automatic Updates. Pressing Automatic Updates will enable your iOS device to update itself automatically. However, you may need to make some updates manually.
Some iOS software updates aren't available wirelessly. VPN or proxy connections might prevent your device from contacting the iOS update servers.
