Middlesex County College History
The Middlesex County College is a public community college that has a main campus in the state of New Jersey, in Edison. The college was founded in 1964 by the Middlesex County Board of Elected Freeholders, and it has become an educational center for New Jersey residents and surrounding areas. Aside from the main campus in Edison, Middlesex County Community College has two additional campuses at the city center of Perth Amboy and the Civic Square government and theatre district of New Brunswick.
Middlesex County College NJ is a two-year college, and its current president is Dr. Joann LaPerla-Morales who has been president since 2005. The college is located on a unique area that was once a Raritan Arsenal. The arsenal was constructed in 1917 by the US army and closed by the year 1963. In 1964, Middlesex County College was officially established, and its first president was Frank Chambers, who also helped design the college. The college opened its doors for the first time in 1966 and had 1,500 students attending.

Middlesex County College Student Activities
To provide its student with a diverse learning education, Middlesex County College NJ has several different activities students can enjoy. Student activities in the college include athletics, art exhibitions, civic engagement, clubs and organizations, campus radio, theatre, and a newspaper. Male and female students can all enjoy a variety of sports programs on campus, including wrestling, soccer, basketball, golf, baseball, track and field (men's sports), and cross country, softball, volleyball, basketball, and track, and field (women's sports on campus).

Students that attend the program can enjoy basketball courts, swimming pool, racquetball courts, and a dance studio all located in a special center meant to the sport's program. Tuition for outside students runs $206 per credit hour. For those who cannot pay their entire tuition, there is a federal financial aid program that offers work-study programs, Pell grants, and direct loans to pay for school. Also, students who attend college can enjoy over 100 scholarships provided by the MCC Foundation.

Middlesex County College goes the extra mile to help students get an education. So, students who have children can use the child care center on campus that takes care of children between the ages of 2-5. Children who are a part of the child care center enjoy breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack with no additional charges. Also, the children at the center are taught by a qualified teacher and an assistant.
