As per the 2014 United States Census Bureau, the total population of South Carolina was estimated to be around 4,896,146. In the 2017 census determined the racial makeup of the state as 68.55 white, 27.3% African American or Blacks, 0.5% American Indians or Alaskan Natives, 0.1% Native Hawaiians or people from other Pacific Islanders, 1.9% from two or more races.

South Carolina Native American History
There has been evidence of human activities in this area for over 40,000 years, and there were some Native American tribes near the end of the Pre-Columbians era. The largest of these tribes were the Cherokee and the Catawba tribes. A little bit up the river of the eastern coastal plane lived close to a dozen tribes that have Siouan background. There were also the Apalachee, Yamasee, and Yuchi tribes that lived along the Savannah River.

The total area of this state is 32,030 sq mi with a length of 260 miles and width of 200 miles and can be divided into three geographic regions mainly Atlantic coastal plain, Piedmont, and the Blue Ridge Mountain.
South Carolina Industries and Jobs
In 2007 the gross state product was estimated to be around $153 billion. A majority of the jobs found here are in the agricultural sector. Most of the agricultural outputs of the state are poultry, tobacco, cotton, cattle, dairy products, swine, hay, and rice. Of the 1,852,700 nonfarm jobs available here 12% are in manufacturing, 11.5% in leisure and hospitality, 19% in transportation, utilities, and trade, and lastly 11.8% in the educational and health services.
South Carolina National Parks, Monuments and Historic Landmarks
There are some historic places and landmarks located in South Carolina that are worth a visit. Some of the more noteworthy places are Congaree National Park, Kings Mountain National Military Park, Reconstruction Era National Monument, Cowpens National Battlefield, and Charles Pinckney National Historic Site.
South Carolina is also very well known for its beautiful beaches, islands, and most importantly their southern hospitality. This is why some of the best things to do here are going to the Dupont planetarium, have a picnic at the Brookgreen Gardens, enjoy a soak at the beach and then part at night on the Broadway there.
