Morgan County Correctional Complex Profile and Valuable Information

Opened in the year 1980 and managed by the Tennessee Department of Corrections, the Morgan County Correctional Complex is a maximum-security prison located in Wartburg Tennessee. The prison can house around 2500 inmates at any given time. The American Correctional Association accredits this prison.

Being a prison that houses inmates belonging to high security, there is a special unit outside the prison where most inmates are kept separately. These inmates are those who require special protection and maximum-security. In the year 2009, the Morgan County Correctional Complex increased its capacity to the current one today. This year was also when most of the Brushy Mountain Correctional Complex were transferred here due to that prison closing down.
