Nevada High Desert State Prison Number of Inmates
High Desert State Prison in Nevada is built on a land of 1,576,000 square feet. The prison has a medium as well as maximum security facilities in it. There are a total of 12 housing units within the prison. 8 of these units are divided into four pods. The prison started with a capacity of 2,671. Additional constructions ended in 2009 and increased the capacity by 1,344. The total capacity of the prison at present is 4,176.
Nevada High Desert State Prison Visitation Hours
Visitation hours to meet inmates at High Desert State Prison is from 8:00 am to 11:00 am in the morning session and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the afternoons.
The schedule for visits for each of the units in the prison is as follows:
- Monday – Units 9 and 11
- Tuesday – Units 10 and 12
- Wednesday – Units 2 and 4
- Thursday – Units 2 and 6
- Friday – Units 5, 7, and 8
- Saturday – Units 5, 7, and 8
- Sunday – Units 7 and 8
Those inmates in the infirmary can have non-contact visits on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Inmates who are segregated for disciplinary reasons can have only one non-contact meeting per month.
The visitor details must be approved in the visitor application file before they can take an appointment. Those visitors who have prior approval should come half an hour before visiting time starts to confirm their appointment.
