New Hampshire State Prison Information

Opened in 1973, the New Hampshire State Prison is the state's oldest prison, open exclusively for maximum security male prisoners. It has various facilities in it, including a psychiatric ward, dental treatment, and even terminal care. In addition, a long term health care ward is open to prisoners from other places as well, regardless of their gender.

New Hampshire State Prison Number of Inmates

The New Hampshire State Prison has a crest capacity of 1461 inmates, at minimum, maximum, and medium levels of security. Currently, there are only about 1,461 inmates housed in the prison.

New Hampshire State Prison Visitation Hours

There are different visiting hours for different inmates in the New Hampshire State Prison. This is generally the case so that inmates of varying security levels have the least interactions possible. In addition, visits are also divided into two shifts. The different visiting hours include the following:

Units A, B, D, E, F:

  • Every Sunday: 8:30 am- 11:30 am.
  • Every Tuesday: 6:30 pm- 9:30 pm.
  • Every Saturday: 6:30 pm- 9:30 pm.
  • Every Tuesday and Thursday: A- Shift, from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm.
  • Wednesday: B Shift, from 8:30 am -11:30 am.

Unit C:

  • Every Sunday: 8:30 am- 11:30 am.
  • Every Thursday: 6:30 pm- 9:30 pm.
  • Every Saturday: 1:00 pm- 3:30 pm.
  • Every Tuesday and Thursday: A shift, from 1:00 pm- 3:30 pm.
  • Every Wednesday: B shift, from 8:30 am- 11:30 am.

New Hampshire State Prison Warden Information

Michelle Edmark has been the warden of New Hampshire State Prison since August 2018. She began working as a correctional officer 22 years ago, and her career has seen a steady rise since then. She has worked in almost all positions in both men and women's prisons.

New Hampshire State Prison Management Information

There are about 350 inmates in the New Hampshire State Prison, all at various levels of staff positions. These include correctional officers, security guards, prison guards, management staff including cooks and cleaners, and medical staff including doctors and nurses.
