Pender Correctional Center located in Burgaw North Carolina is a medium-security all-male prison that was established in the year 1935. In total, the institution has six dormitories, a medical building, a dining hall, several educational buildings, many recreational buildings, an operations center, different programs building, an administration center, a chapel, and a gatehouse. The number of inmates that can be accommodated inside the facility at a time is 768.
The construction of the Pender Correctional Center started on November 30, 1990. A 756-bed facility for adult males, adjacent to a 112-bed Pender Correctional Center of medium security was the plan of action for construction. The one-dormitory facility completed its construction in the year 1935 as one of 61 unit prisons that could house offenders who worked on building roads. In the year 1993, the prison was renovated and reopened.
Pender Correctional Center Visiting Hours
An appointment is required by anyone who wishes to visit an inmate at the Pender Correctional Center. Appointments can be scheduled up to 24 hours before the time of visitation. All visitors are requested to arrive at least 15 minutes before their visitation time to verify application and for security check.
Visitation into the facility is only allowed from Sunday to Thursday and all appointments for the same can be made between 8 am and 4 pm through Mondays to Thursdays. The visitation hourly timings for the facility are as follows:
On Sundays: 8:30 am to 9:30 am, from 10 am to 11 am, 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, from 2 pm to 3 pm, 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm.
On every other weekday except Friday: 8:30 am to 10:30 am, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, 2:15 pm to 4:15 pm.
