History and mission of Sheridan Correctional Center
The facility was originally built as a juvenile facility in 1941. Later in August 1973, it was converted to an adult facility. Sheridan Correctional Center was closed from August 2002 and was only re-opened later in January 2004. The facility was reopened to provide men with substance abuse treatment services. It uses therapeutic community approaches to help inmates return to society drug-free.

Sheridan Correctional Center Visiting Hours
Visitors can pay a visit to the Substance Abuse Program offenders during the below visiting hours after the offenders have been at the institution for 30 days. Offenders are allowed 7 visits a month, out of which, 2 can be done on weekends and holidays.
Visiting hours: Monday to Friday – 3:15 pm to 8:45 pm
Saturday, Sunday and state holidays: 9 am to 8:30 pm.
Please note that
- Admission to the facility will not be allowed post 7 pm.
- On the first and third Saturdays of every month, offender visits start only after 12 pm.
Sheridan Correctional Center Visitation Rules and Guidelines
Visits will have to carry two photo identification and verification of date of birth. The ID could include a driver’s license, a government ID card or a state ID. Expired forms of ID will not be accepted. Visitors will also have to carry vehicle information and other necessary data like official credentials, attorney registration or law student certification.
