South Woods State Prison was started in 1997 and located in Bridgeton, New Jersey. This state prison accommodates prisoners that generally serve a longer sentence. There are three security units of medium size besides a single small security firehouse while the prison also has an Extended care unit and a Palliative care unit. This is the newest and the largest prison in the state.

Inmates can be sent 4” *6” photos that contain no nudity. Furthermore, photos should not contain any tattoos or hand gestures since these may indicate possibilities of gang affiliation.

There are 2 alternating sessions on Saturdays and Sundays for visiting H1- H6 units as well as the ECU.
The morning session starts at 8:30 AM and goes on until 10:30 AM. Registrations for this session has to be made between 8-9:30 AM.
The afternoon session starts at 1 PM and goes up to 3 PM. Registrations for this session should be made between 11:30AM-1PM.
Since the units follow alternate scheduling, you will be required to get in touch with the facility to know the precise schedule.
To visit the Minimum unit, you can either choose the morning session (8:30-10:30 AM; registrations 8-9 AM) or the afternoon session (12:30 PM-3PM; registrations 12PM-1PM) on Saturdays and Sundays.
