Number of Inmates
The Valdosta state prison has been built to house male felons. There are ten units in the prison to house inmates. The total bed capacity is 500. It has an annex with 554 beds for the general population. There are six mental health units located in the prison that have a total of 264 beds. There are also isolation beds with 25 numbers. For inmates who are severely ill, there is an acute care unit that has 12 beds. There is also a crisis stabilization unit. This has four beds.
The total inmate capacity in the prison is 1312 with present strength being 1,070.
Valdosta State Prison Visiting Hours
For those who wish to visit the prison to meet inmates, the following is the information about the visitation hours at the prison:
General visitors can visit the prison on Saturdays, Sunday, and on all state holidays. The timings during which one can visit the prison are between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
The prison has tier visitation hours to meet inmates. This is possible on Mondays and Wednesdays (state holidays falling on these days are excluded). The hours of the visit are 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.

3) Vocational programs that are offered include barber course, dorm orderly program, laundry orderly, warehouse orderly, food service, clerking, and painting.
4) Religious programs are offered that include bible study, spiritual programs for enlightenment, choir, and a variety of other worship related services.
5) General recreation, as well as sports, are offered in Valdosta prison.
