Beachwood Ohio Overview and Crime Rate Statistics
The city of Beachwood is a part of Cuyahoga County in the state of Ohio, USA. It is a suburban town in Cleveland.
Beachwood was originally part of the township known as Warrensville which lost numerous cities and villages in the 20th century. In 1915, after the shutting down of a regional school, freeholders from the northeastern part of town won through petition the right to incorporate a village of 151 people.
Beachwood was incorporated as a village on June 26, 1915. The village was known to have an increasing school population as early as 1926 when Fairmount School (later known as Beechwood School) was constructed. Beachwood's first permanent village hall was built in 1929.
The village was named after Beech trees that were abundant in the area. In 1960, it was recorded that the population stood at 6,089. In the present day, this city of Beachwood boasts of being home to more than 2,900 homes and 2,500 apartments.

According to the United States Census Bureau, there were about 11,953 people living in the city of Beachwood in 2010. The latest estimates state that the population is approximately 11,696, which is a 2.1 percent decrease over the past seven years. There are more women than men in Beachwood with 55.8 percent of the population comprising of females. Children below the age of 18 make up 20.9 percent of the population of Beachwood while about 29.7 percent of the people here are senior citizens above the age of 65.

According to the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) of the US Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), the city of Beachwood noted a total of 1,196 criminal incidences in 2012. Among them, there were 32 cases of violent crime, no cases of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, one case of rape, two cases of robbery and 29 cases of aggravated assault. There were also 566 cases of property crime in Beachwood that year along with 13 cases of burglary, 547 cases of larceny-theft, six cases of motor vehicle theft and no cases of arson.
In 2014, there were a total of 1,295 criminal incidences reported in Beachwood. Among them were 12 cases of violent crime, no case of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, one case of rape, seven cases of robbery, four cases of aggravated assault, 635 cases of property crime, 104 cases of burglary, 525 cases of larceny-theft, six cases of motor vehicle theft and one case of arson.
