Adoption Records

Adoption records in Montana are archived by the court that does the filing for adoption. Adoption records from 1967-1997 are sealed except where there is a court order. If you are looking for records prior to 1967, a written request from an adoptee is to be presented. For records post-1997, a court order and a permit by the birth parents are essential.
