Mountain Brook is a city that is located southeast of the city of Birmingham in the state of Alabama, USA. It is a part of Jefferson County and follows a council-manager form of government. Mountain Brook covers a land area of 12.79 square miles and has a population density of 1,596 people per square mile.
Mountain Brook was incorporated as a city in the year 1942. Initially, it used to be a part of the Mountain Brook Estates that were developed by Rober Jemison Jr in the 1920s. It later came to be called Mountain Brook City and then just Mountain Brook. Jemison developed the land to preserve the natural surroundings and to cater to the enjoyment of its future residents. He had even placed many restrictions on the community, limiting the population to whites only and disallowing businesses that were noted to be noisy or malodorous. Most of the houses in the region were constructed in an English Tudor style.
The economy of Mountain Brook was intrinsically connected that of Birmingham as both cities were affected by and recovered from the Great Depression at a similar. Mountain Brook was incorporated as a city in 1942.

The US Census Bureau has noted that the city of Mountain Brook had a population of 20,413 people in 2010. The latest estimates of the population as on July 1, 2017, showed that there were an approximate of 20,381 people in town. Among them, 51.2 percent of the citizens are women and 30.3 percent of the people are composed of children under the age of 18.
In the racial-ethnic demographic, about 97.8 percent of the population identifies as white. Meanwhile, about one percent were noted to identify as African American, one percent identified as Hispanic or Latino, 0.9 percent were Asian and 0.1 percent of the population identified as American Indian or Alaska Native. Further, about two percent of the inhabitants of Mountain Brook is foreign-born and 3.7 percent speak another language apart from English at home.
About 99.5 percent of the population older than 25 years are high school graduated, while 85.1 percent of the people have attained bachelors' degrees. There are a total of 7,336 households in the city of Mountain Brook. Each household has about 2.79 members and the median household income in the region is $ 129,777. The per capita income of Mountain Brook is $ 70,735. It has also been noted that 3.2 percent of the population are earning below the poverty line.

Crime in Mountain Brook Alabama
The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in its Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program has noted in the year of 2016, that Mountain Brook had recorded a total of 606 criminal incidences. These included 14 cases of violent crime, one case of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, one case of rape, six cases of robbery, six cases of aggravated assault, 289 cases of property crime, 41 cases of burglary, 239 cases of larceny-theft and nine cases of motor vehicle theft.
In 2015, there were a total of 280 criminal incidences reported. Among them were six cases of robbery, eight cases of assault, 38 cases of burglary, 219 case of larceny and nine cases of motor vehicle theft.
To combat crime, there were 69 people employed under the law enforcement agency of Mountain Brook. Among them were 56 sworn officers (five sworn female officers) and 13 civilians. In 2016, a total of 27 people were arrested in the city. These included three juvenile offenders and 24 adults.
