The Pirates of the Caribbean is immensely popular with the younger generation, and the Disney Production house does not want such a scandalous figure to be the protagonist of the franchise.He was born to John Christopher Depp and Marie Sue as John Christopher Depp in Owensboro a small town in Kentucky. He left school at the age of 15 to tor with his band called The Kids. On a chance meeting with Nicholas Cage in California, he was inspired to pursue acting and made his debut in small scale production of A Nightmare on Elm Street. His shot to fame was the role of Tommy Hanson in 21 Jump Street of 1987. His big break was of the titular role Edward Scissorhands, where he met with Winona Ryder. They were together for four years before the separated mutually.
Following the success of Edward Scissorhands Depp continually chose peculiarly dark, serious, idiosyncratic performances that surprised the critics and fans alike. His popularity increased as he evolved within his niche with extraordinary performances. Depp has played many characters that critics and audiences believe only he could pull off. The roguish and conniving Jack Sparrow gained Depp further critical acclaim.
An altercation with Amber Heard
Amber Heard is an Australian actress and ex-wife of Johny Depp. In 2016 Amanda Heard filed for divorce to end their eighteen months marriage. She accused Depp of domestic violence and a toxic relationship. After the divorce Depp was made to pay her seven million dollars as compensation for his actions, Depp has filed a $50 million lawsuit against her for defamation.
As part of his defamation suit Depp has presented any evidence of Amber physically assaulting him, and audiotapes where she admits her violent streak. Depp reported a very drunk and aggressive once threw a wooden stool on Depp. She herself has admitted on punching Depp but justifies her action by saying that his actions justified her reaction.
Depp’s complicated past
The younger fan base that Johnny Depp has strangely defended Johnny Depp and continues to advocate Depp as another victim of gender-neutral domestic violence. Although the jury is still out about Amber Heard’s abuse of Depp, there is undeniable violence in his past that cannot be denied.
In the 80s and 90s when Johnny Depp was coming into fame he was known as the bad boy of Hollywood. This is the very reason that Amber Herd’s legal team has requested the court to ask Depp to submit past records related to assault and drug abuse.
The recent charges by Amber are sadly just the latest in a line of violent charges against Johnny Depp. In 1989 he was first arrested for assaulting a hotel staff, who asked them to leave after Depp with his other intoxicated friends, were misbehaving with other hotel guests. He was charged again 1994 for destroying hotel property during a fight with Kate Moss, his then-girlfriend. Some still don’t want to think poorly about Depp so they can still enjoy the fandom fantasy of who he is.
