The Five Dumbest American Criminals of All Time

America has had some criminal master minds through out the years that made history, and some of them even had movies based on their genius, like Frank Abagnale, whose amazing life story got turned into the screenplay of Catch Me If You Can. However, American history also had its fair share of criminals that were, well, not too bright… Their attempted crimes are more funny than scary, and you are welcome to laugh along at the tales of the 5 dumbest American criminals ever.

1. Ruben Zarate – A robber that provided his victims with his contact information
A successful robbery can get you a pretty penny, but that wasn't the case for Ruben Zarate. The 18-year-old tried to rob a muffler store in Chicago only to find out that most of the money was locked up in a safe. Zarate was not discouraged, and he gave the store's employees his phone number so that they could call him when the owners come in and open the safe for him.

2. Mack Yearwood – the criminal that posted his wanted add as a profile pic
It's hard to take a good profile pic, so when you do, you just have to post it! that was the case of Mack Yearwood, from Florida, who apparently thought his mugshot and Wanted ad were so good that it was worth the risk of posting them as his profile picture.

3. Demetrius Robinson – the robber/potential Golden Pantry employee
Planning out a robbery has to meticulous, but some robbers just wing it, and not always in the best way… Demetrius Robinson, 28, decided to rob a Golden Pantry store one night, but had to be left alone with the clerk for his plan to succeed. So, he did what any robber would do – he applied for a job at the store and filled out an application to pass the time. The only problem was that he wrote down his uncle's real phone number and his own real name before robbing the store. Not too wise.

4. Chastity Eugina Hopson – Called the police for fear of Ebola tainted meth
Police in Texas were trying to catch meth users and distributers when they posted an announcement saying "If you have recently purchased meth or heroin in Central Texas, please take it to the local police or sheriff department so it can be screened with a special device. DO NOT use it until it has been properly checked for possible Ebola contamination!". 29-year-old Chastity Eugina Hopson was apparently afraid that she bought the tainted meth, so she called the police and told them she though it was… dangerous.

5. Charles Ray Fuller – the "Billionaire" bank robber
If you decide to steal money you should at least make it worth-while, but still within reason… in Charles Ray Fuller's case he tried to fly a little to close to the sun and got his wings quickly clipped off. The then 21-year-old entered a Fort Worth bank and gave the teller a cheque for, get this - $360 billion. He claimed that the cheque was given to him by his girlfreind's mother, but the teller didn't buy it and called the police. Oh, and to top it all off, the cheque wasn't even made out to Fuller!
