The Arrendale state prison that is operations since 1951 became a full-women prison since 2005. It has the capacity to house 1,476 inmates.
The prison has an open dormitory type of accommodation to house inmates. It has both single cells as well as double cells to house inmates. It has four distinct units. They are:
Unit A: It has a supportive living unit, substance abuse center, and a transitional center.
Unit B: This unit has a general population accommodation.
Unit C: This has a general population as well as faith character-based population.
Unit D: It has a general population housing for inmates with single cells.
Unit E: This has segregation cells meant for inmates convicted of serious crimes.
The prison also has a CERT unit, canine unit, special management unit, and an in-house fire station.
The Visitation hours of the prison for all visitors would be on all the state holidays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Visitation during regular times is done on all Saturdays and Sundays. Those inmates whose last names start from A to K can have visitation hours on all Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Visitation hours for inmates who last names start from L to Z would be on all Sundays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
