The Bayside state prison has a capacity of 2,206 inmates. At present, based on the latest statistical report, the prison has 1,432 inmates.
There are two separate parts to the Bayside state prison. One is the main prison and the other is the farm. The main prison facility has two units, known as the Medium facility and the Ancora. The Farm unit is a separate facility in the prison.
At the Bayside state prison, visitation is done as per a fixed schedule. The schedule is fixed for the year. There are different dates of visit to meet an inmate. This depends on whether the inmate is housed at the farm or at the medium facility. Visits can happen in the morning session or in the afternoon session. In the morning session visit timings are from 8:00 am to 10:40 am. In the afternoon sessions, the visits are from 12:30 pm to 2:40 pm.
The prison has rules governing visits to meet inmates that need to be strictly followed. Certain high-risk inmates are categorized as zero-tolerance inmates. Only non-contact visits are allowed for such inmates and they can get access to a one-hour window visit on Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on prior appointment.
