Centennial Correctional Facility Profile and Valuable Information

Centennial Correctional Facility or CCF was established in 1980 and is located in Canon City, Colorado. The correctional facility can be found in the East Canon complex of Fremont County. There are two primary buildings in the facility, the South facility, and the North facility. The former is a Level V maximum-security while the latter is a Level IV maximum security. CCF has a capacity of 604 inmates.

Centennial Correctional Facility History

The North facility at CCF was the first facility out of the two. You can find level IV maximum-security offenders in the north division. The South facility, on the other hand, was opened in 2011 and houses offenders of administrative segregation or AdSeg. In simple words, these prisoners are in solitary confinement. The South facility is also a counterpart of the Colorado State Penitentiary or CSP.

The south facility has 948 solitary confinement cells in total. Surprisingly, CCF South was closed down by legislators in 2011 because of their objection to the overuse of solitary confinement in the facility.
