The Central Arizona Correctional Facility (CACF) is located in Florence. It is a medium-custody private prison managed and operated by the GEO Group, consequent to a contract with the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry.

The objective of the CACF is to have custody and provide treatment to 1,280 inmates. Only adult males are permitted as inmates in CACF.

Initially, Correctional Services Corporation (CSC) designed the facility of CACF while GEO built it for CSC. The CACF began operation in December 2006 with a maximum capacity of 1280 prisoners. It is classified as a medium-security level correction facility. Later, GEO replaced CSC as the CACF contractor. CACF is a significant contributor to the local economy as an employer and consumer.

The facility qualified the initial accreditation issued by the American Correctional Association (ASA) in the year 2013. It also secured re-accreditation in the year 2016 with a high score of 99.27%.

Additionally, the Central Arizona Correctional Facility visiting hours are notified as follows:

  1. Visitors with no prior contact with the inmates can secure visitation by appointment at least 24 hours in advance, on Tuesdays. The prescribed timeline for visitation is 8:00 am to 10:00 am and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
  2. Visitors who qualify as a special visit must get prior approval from the warden. Furthermore, the inmate in question is also required to submit a request for the approval, not more than 15 days from the date of the intended visit.

Additionally:

  • Visitors must fill Form 911-1 which is just a visitation list with a maximum of 20 visitors.
  • You must also complete an Arizona inmate visitors application, printed and mailed to an inmate with the envelope title "Attentions Visitation Officer" or submitted online via the CACF website.
  • A 25$ fee is mandated for a background check of a visitor and any discovery of false submissions by a visitor may result in cancellation of application and eligibility for visitation.

  • The Arizona Department of Corrections may take a maximum time of 60 days to grant approval for a visit.
  • Rejections allow visitors to file an appeal within 10 days, else the visitor must wait 6 months for a re-application.
  • Minor visitors are required to visit with their parent or guardian. They are also mandated to provide their birth certificate.
  • Unless the visiting room is full, visitation can be for as many as 6 visitors at a time and as long as 2 hours.
  • Visitors are advised to abide by rules of entry and avoid carrying prohibited or suspicious materials.
